Taylor and Kelsie met at the NC State Fair their freshman year of college in October of 2007. At the time, Taylor was studying and playing baseball at Appalachian State University, and Kelsie was across the state at East Carolina University as a Maynard Scholar. They had an instant connection when Kelsie saw him standing outside of Candy Castle and she offered him some of her ride tickets.
That connection quickly led to Kelsie visiting her friends at ASU (but also to see Taylor). By the Spring of 2008, Kelsie decided to transfer to ASU, and even though she didn’t want to admit it at the time, it was because she wanted to be closer to Taylor!
About a year later, they were officially “an item.” On January 18, 2009, in a casual low-key way, Taylor looked at Kelsie with a smile and asked her to be his “spaghetti and meatballs” (this funny question was based on an earlier conversation they had had that day)! In that moment, Kelsie was the happiest girl in the world!
Fast forward 11 years, 7 months, and 4 amazing days later…life together as boyfriend and girlfriend was still going strong. Then, FINALLY, on Saturday, August 22nd, Taylor asked Kelsie to marry him!
The day started out with Taylor getting up around 6:30 in the morning to go cut the grass out at their land, which is where they are working on building their forever home. He passively said to Kelsie, “You should come out to the land sometime today.” Kelsie responded with a brief “okay” and then went back to sleep. After waking up, Kelsie decided she didn’t want to go to the land, so she called Taylor to let him know, and he seemed to be okay with it and went on about his business of cutting grass. Little did she know, he was really trying to figure out how to get her out there without it being obvious.
Around lunch time, Kelsie called him again to see if he was done with “cutting the grass;” however, he wasn’t (which was a lie), and he asked if Kelsie would bring him lunch. Kelsie went out there, and they enjoyed an Arby’s lunch on the tailgate. Following lunch, Kelsie and Taylor walked around the land, the whole time Taylor was trying to get Kelsie to the right spot to propose!
As they walked, Kelsie was talking about their future and how they could use our property. They eventually made their way to a little area on the side of their property where two old Red Oak trees stand. In midst of all their talking about their wants and dreams, Taylor all of sudden DROPPED DOWN TO ONE KNEE and asked Kelsie the FOUR BIG WORDS SHE HAD ALWAYS DREAMED OF HIM ASKING! The old Red Oak trees, which stand quietly on edge of their property, and watched Taylor ask Kelsie to be his Forever Girl, now hold an engraved heart with their initials!
Kelsie and Taylor’s wedding was a dream come true for them! After a decade long relationship, they committed to each other for the rest of their lives! We are so excited to share their wedding film with everyone!
