Pablo and Ashley first met each other at Davis Library at UNC. They were rounding a corner at the end of a bookstack at the same time and accidentally ran into each other. Ashley apologized for bumping into him, and as he was turning to leave, she said, “I’m sorry if this is too forward, but I just wanted to tell you that you have really pretty eyes.” He politely said, “Thank you” and left. Ashley was pretty disappointed that the interaction ended there. He was the handsomest man she had ever seen!
The following semester, in the dining hall, Ashley noticed a familiar face standing at the escalator. Pablo approached her and said, “You’re the girl from the library aren’t you?” He hadn’t forgotten her! Pablo even told Ashley what she was wearing that day. That was seven years ago, and they have been inseparable ever since.
Pablo is from New Orleans, and that’s where he proposed to Ashley during Mari Gras in the beautiful City Park!
We were so excited when Ashley and Pablo reached out to us about doing their wedding. They are so genuine, kind, and friendly! Pablo has a wonderful habit of using your name often in conversation that makes you feel noticed and heard, a skill that comes in handy as a school teacher, and Ashley is gentle-spirited and soothing to be around, making her perfect for her job as a NICU nurse! We loved their focus on the important things in life and their relationship. They clearly love each other deeply and take their wedding commitment seriously. Even when their wedding had to be rescheduled due to COVID, and they didn’t get to have as many guests as they originally wanted, they both kept great attitudes, were positive and still totally happy just to be getting married!
Their intimate wedding at the Fearrington Village was just beautiful! They wrote letters to each other to read before the wedding, and they were my personal favorite part of the day! Happy tears from both of them! That was followed by their beautiful, personal written vows that they gave each other in the ceremony.
When we first booked Ashley and Pablo, they told us the one word they would use to describe their relationship was “penguins,” haha! They said one day they were watching a nature show about penguins and learned that once a penguin finds a mate, they stay together for life, so they say they are each other’s “penguin.” How sweet is that?! I love how they included that little detail into their wedding day!
We couldn’t be happier to have served Ashley and Pablo on their wedding day, and we are so excited to share their film with everyone!
