Welcoming our Kittens to the Talley Family

May 17, 2018

Well, we finally did it. We got a pet. Actually, we got two pets.

Brandon and I have been married for over four and a half years, and we haven’t had so much as a fish to keep alive! It’s not that we never wanted pets, we just never really had a good opportunity until now.

I knew I wanted to surprise Brandon with a kitten as soon as we moved into our new house back in December last year! I considered getting one for Christmas or Valentine’s Day, but we were still in the process of moving in, so I decided that Brandon’s birthday in April would be the perfect timing!

I let Brandon open his birthday gift from me, and it was a pet carrier. He looked at me confused, and I asked him if he wanted to go get a kitten. He was so excited! Then, I asked him if he wanted to get TWO kittens so they wouldn’t be lonely, sooo that’s what we did!

Brandon has never raised a pet from a baby before! How crazy is that?! So he wasn’t prepared for the emotional bonding that comes with taking care of baby animals! Brandon was so adorable with them, he was like, “I have so many strong emotions for them!” I nodded. I feel like everyone needs to experience this type of love at least once in their life!

Oscar is our boy. He is an orange tabby, and he is the SWEETEST thing! He is cuddly and likes being held. He purrs constantly and takes naps often. Oscar is just one big baby, and we love him to death! He is so precious!

Hollywood is our girl. She is the most beautifully marked calico you will ever see! She is playful, adventurous, and daring. She likes to run at full speed and play with her toys! She is always getting into something she’s not supposed to, and we think she is just hilarious!

We are so happy that we decided to get two! They keep each other company, and they love to play together (which is great because they don’t cry all night for us!). We love our little kittens! We occasionally put adorable stories of them on Instagram, just fyi, if you’re interested in staying updated on their shenanigans. Here’s a few more shots from my first attempt at a kitten photoshoot…it went about as well as you might expect, but I got some good ones!
